I wonder how many AWD manual hatchbacks I’m allowed before it’s a problem?
I bet this’d be a hoot with studded tires in the winter.

I just imagine taking it out on my parents frozen lake, getting up to 60 and pulling the e-brake like I used to do in my shitty japanese cars growing up. It looks like it would spin like a top (in a good way).

It’s only 15 years for you.

I reeeaaaally hope the AWD system makes it to the Corolla intact. If it gets reduced to a electric clutch activated rear axle like all the FWD-based crossovers I’m not interested. If it keeps the variable centre diff I’ll buy one immediately. I’m kinda hoping they bring the 3-pot with it because it makes a neat sound but I think the bigger car might need more motor so a turbo 4 will do as well.

Well I guess that's your answer then.

yep. But they’re all gonna be beat to shit then

Toyota Oz put an introductory pricetag on the GR Yaris in order to pre-sell their allocation. This resulted in exceeding their allocation which then was increased and sold out...now the list price has been lifted by $9500!

Is that angle hiding a face only a mother could love?

My brother recently got a test drive as well since he has one on order that is due around February - as expected he loved it.
His argument is that this is a better way to hold money in Japan than keeping it in the bank with no interest and inflation. Damn wish I could win such arguments with the better half :) But with this car maybe it actually holds water.

The CHR GR was already released, right? That hot ticket has got ...like...extra stickers or something...

The Corolla GR wont be anything like the Yaris GR though

C-HR GR Sport...

Why wouldn’t it use the same system?
![]() 11/13/2020 at 22:27 |

Cost cutting? It’s not cheap a awd system, unlike the clutch power take off units used in so many crossovers. That is, if it ends up being AWD at all; t he GTI/Si/N market is probably a lot bigger and more appealing for Toyota to enter. I do hope they go WRX/STI chasing though.

I knoooooow. I’m just holding off on being excited as I’ve lost count of how many times the US just didn’t quite get an equivocal vehicle as was first offered elsewhere. So I’ll be excited about a Corolla GR (300hp, AWD, 6MT Corolla) when I see the official release.

Same, but I’m already excited. Can’t help it.

yes seriously, the Yaris GR is a 4wd rally homologation special, the Corolla GR is a 2wd luke warm hatch

Well, crap.

ignore me, I’ve done some research and apparently there is going to be a new Corolla GR that’s similar to the Yaris GR, I seem to be waaay out of the loop on these things since leaving facebook

I feel much better now.
